At the Family Support Center of Ojochal our volunteers make all the difference to the families we help. They deliver food and vouchers, they check in on progress, they operate La Manita, our thrift shop, and they support our fundraising events.

Recognizing the contributions of these generous members of our community is one way to say Thank You!

Here is a profile of Helena Lancinger!

Another of our amazing La Manita volunteers, Helena is a part-time resident of Ojochal. Born and raised in Prague, she worked as a physiotherapist for 20 years before moving to Canada where she became a massage therapist.  Helena loves her “life without borders”.

Falling in love with the ‘Pura Vida’ lifestyle on her first trip in 2008, Helena worked out an early retirement plan that lets her spend 6 months in paradise, while still offering therapy services when back in Canada. She looks forward to making Costa Rica her permanent home in the not too distant future.

Helena is passionate about many things. Her active life includes yoga, Zumba, thai chi, hiking and walking on her favorite beach – Playa Tortuga. She also loves reading, especially historical fiction.

Fortunate for us, Helena is also passionate about fashion. She has thrown her eye for fashion and sense of style into creating La Boutique Tienda; selecting great pieces from the many donations, and adding flare to merchandising.

Full of energy, Helena is always looking to learn new things, meet new people and contribute to the community. In addition to the Family Support Center of Ojochal, Helena volunteers at the Ojochal Library.
