WHO WE ARE

OUR
STORY

In 2014, four strong women, Rita Lucas, Kimberly Faddah, Diana Morales Rojas and Karen Davies, decided enough was enough – local families should not be going hungry. Always socially conscious and active in the community, these women formally started the Ojochal Food Bank.

One family quickly became seven, and the number has continued to grow as the group works to fill in the gaps for families with limited means.

Supported by generous donations from the local community, this group of volunteers had grand plans, but found access to international donations and external funding limited, so they set about becoming an official not-for-profit corporation in Costa Rica. The organization has now officially become Asociacion De Centro De Apoyo Para Las Familias De Ojochal (CAFO) / Family Support Center of Ojochal (FSCO).

While changing to support the community in new ways, CAFO/FSCO remains grounded in its founding belief -

"Don't let your neighbors go hungry tonight"
